Recyclable waste

Recyclable waste

Paris-Beauvais Airport's waste management and selective sorting policy meets stringent environmental requirements.

Autonomous waste management

Every year, Paris-Beauvais Airport collects :

  • Over 400 tons of non-hazardous waste, whether recyclable or not;
  • 8 tons of hazardous waste (primarly aerosols from passengers collected at the boarding )

Contrary to individuals, Paris-Beauvais Airport cannot have its waste collected by the nearby municipality due to the large volume and variety of stakeholders involved. Consequently, the waste is first carried by the airport’s waste facility and then collected and processed by an external service provider.

Selective sorting and waste incineration

In 2009, Paris-Beauvais Airport became the 1st French airport to offer selective sorting to its passenger

Dealing with non-recyclable waste, SAGEB decided to go for incineration rather than landfill. Even if the cost is quite high, incineration is a much less polluting solution

Environmentally friendly waste transportation

In 2013, the framework for the collection and transportation of waste to the treatment center was redefined. The airport incorporated strong environmental requirements into this process.

The number of trips between the airport's waste facility and the treatment center has significantly decreased, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions related to waste collection and transportation.
