KEY POINTS (in French)
Oise, at the gates of the Paris region, has a central role in the national and European landscape. Witness its industrial jobs and the diversity of its activities, a food processing sector with a strong regional presence, but above all, its manufacturing industry, a local economic engine and source of a great many jobs. To secure its place, Oise has had the foresight to build quality infrastructure: highways, nearby airports of Paris Beauvais and Roissy, high-speed train with possible connection at Creil Roissy, and of course the Seine-Northern Europe Canal.
Well linked to dynamics thanks to communications routes, Oise is connected both to the gates of Greater Paris and to the Hauts-de-France region: a 40-minute drive to Paris by the A1 (50 km), 25 minutes by train (from Creil, the leading train station in the Picardie department), 25 minutes from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport and from the Paris Beauvais Airport. In the east, Oise is served by the A1 highway (Paris/Brussels) and in the west by the A16 highway (Paris/cross-Channel)…. The Oise river, which crosses the department, makes river transport possible for businesses .
In addition to these advantages are universities, research and training facilities, the noteworthy arrival of fiber optic cable for everyone and the deployment of very high speed broadband. Oise is a many-faceted area, combining urban and rural areas as well as simultaneously meeting the needs of mobile inhabitants and the imperatives of economic dynamism and environmental preservation. Quality of life and tourism make for a formidable advantage for the area, whether through Senlis, a medieval city rich in art and history, or Chantilly, celebrated for its castle and vast stables, not to mention Compiègne, an imperial city…
The Oise boasts strategic features to export by water, land and air!
A concessionaire of river transport platforms, Oise’s CCI commits to a strategic priority built around two main orientations: develop port activity and invest to improve competitiveness.
Port equipment to effectively meet transport needs Wholehearted supporter of river transport, the Oise CCI is a concessionaire of the ports of Nogent sur Oise and St Leu d’Esserent.
CCI Oise’s strategy in developing river transport aims, in partnership with local governments and institutions, to offer waterway clients a range of port infrastructures throughout our geographic area in order to optimize transport costs by reducing offload delays.
Hauts-de-France development actors have, in recent decades, set up pro-active policies in the domain of cargo transport and logistics. The Hauts-de-France area is a leading logistic array whose potential evolution nonetheless requires a new and strong regional approach.
Today, the CCIs of Nord de France and Picardie regions, in partnership with the Large Maritime Port of Dunkirk, wish to join their forces to succeed in this shared goal, through the setup of a new entity named “Ports des Hauts-de-France”.
Define a high-quality logistic system The aim of the association is to “structure the port network of the newly expanded region in order to propose a sustainable economic development strategy for maritime and river transport linked directly to the Seine-Nord Europe in the Hauts-de-France region.

The deployment of Very High Bandwidth
By 2020, all of Oise will be connected to Very High Bandwidth with optical fiber. The deployment of VHB is a major stake in the competitiveness and economic attractiveness of the territory. Ultimately, more than 10,000 km of optical fiber will be deployed. This will make Oise the first dual urban-rural area of its scale to be fully connected in Europe.
State of the art training centers
Oise features internationally recognized institutions of higher education, notably the Technology University of Compiègne and the LaSalle de Beauvais Institute, which add to the territory’s attractiveness and where the innovations of tomorrow are imagined and designed. Each year, no fewer than 11,000 students are trained in Oise and nearly half of these students are enrolled in an engineering school.
Created in 1972, the TUC is today ranked among the best engineering schools in France. It was the first among an international network of 4 technology universities, as it led to the creation of the TUT (Troyes), the TUBM (Belfort-Montbéliard) and the TUseuS (Shanghai).
Combining the advantages of a public university with those of top-level engineering school, the TUC trains “contemporary engineers”, aware of the complexity of the business world and the current socio-economic context. As proof of its innovative spirit, the TUC has opened a unique site in France: an innovation hub. Numerous laboratories, at the forefront of their domains, are located on the site, designed to stimulate a desire to create, start up a business, innovate!
